This is a remaster of C-chan's debut of Windows 1.0-tan and 2.0-tan, taking full advantage of the SVG source file containing the complete artwork. Both their eyes and their hair highlights have been modernized, and the heads repositioned to enhance their appearance. 1.0-tan's family picture frame has also been enlarged to improve its visibility.

Windows 1.0-tan's character design was a composite of a previous silhoutte drawing by an unknown Japanese artist, a preconcept design by C-chan's friend Aurora, and some of his own additions. A much later character design was created by Esu; but aside from any preexisting similarities, no attempt has been made to backport anything from the Esu design. Windows 2.0-tan was an original at the time she was created; although potential alternative Windows 2.0-tan's have propped up since, none describe themselves as representing Windows 2.0 so it's possible that she still remains an original OS-tan.

Having long been exiled from the Windows Family due to their obsolescence, Windows 1.0 and 2.0-tan now live among other vintage OS-tans after several years of wandering; that few people remember any family member prior to Windows 3.1-tan has helped them live in relative obscurity. Windows 1.0-tan is sweet, gentle and still collects keepsakes of her entire family, including the newer generation Windows-tans she's never met. However, being an incomplete prototype, she's accident-prone, slow in thought and overly innocent-minded.

Her immediate daughter, Windows 2.0-tan, is smarter and in full control of her faculties but is also more prone to melancholy because of it. She's also more prone to sickness, but still tries hard to help her friends regardless. Despite her young physical age, her experience in laying the foundation for Microsoft's rise to power has made her a very competent mason.
